Thanks to Councilman Rick Corley’s intercession, work on the new playground has restarted in earnest. DPW Director Mathew Solitro has indicated to the Councilman that the playground will be completed by the end of the month.

A newly-resurfaced, rock lined gravel path now provides secure and even footing from the mainland to the breakwater.

Next, a layer of engineered wood fiber was added over geotextile to create a safe play surface. Wheel chairs can travel over the fiber, once compacted.
Installation of the new playground equipment at Salter Grove was mostly completed on Friday, July 19th, but it is far from safe to play on. A wood fiber play surface and ADA access path have yet to be installed.
