A number of new families from the neighborhood came to enjoy our autumn potluck on September 23rd. It felt more like summer with sunshine and blue skies. Light breezes had just enough strength to propel long sinuous bubbles that drifted for yards across the lawn. The youngest bubble maker was only three-years old! New and tasty dishes appeared for the potluck with the return of a crowd-pleasing favorite from before–lemon curd squares. A duo of up-and-coming face painters wowed the two community police officers in attendance as well as others with their artistic creations. A doe and her fawn made a special appearance as they came for their evening stroll in the park.

WPD Declares Salter Grove Family-Friendly

The Warwick Police Department has assessed the level of illegal activity at Salter Grove in response to concerns that were raised at a neighborhood meeting in mid-April. The
Department’s Community Police Unit focuses on public relations and quality of life issues, and it promptly and thoroughly responded to a request from Friends of Salter Grove and Councilman Richard Corley for increased surveillance.
Officer Daniel Maggiacomo and Sgt. William Defeo of the Community Police Unit reported on the results of their efforts at FoSG’s recent monthly meeting. Based on at least 100 directed patrols since June 5th, as well as numerous covert observations by Community Police and detectives, officers did not encounter any activity that warranted an arrest.
Thanks for Making Our First BBQ a Success!
Long-time residents and more recent arrivals met to enjoy the first sunny afternoon in days at Salter Grove on July 15th. Face-painted children (courtesy of www.marcwkohler.com) romped nimbly over rock formations while adults played lawn games on the well-tended grass. Adults and children alike, quickly became addicted to making gigantic bubbles that undulated through the air. Tasty food was plentiful and there were almost as many desserts as savory dishes. A good time was had by all and some people even wondered if they had missed previous Friends of Salter Grove get-togethers. Both organizers and participants agreed that this potluck should not be the last. Stay tuned for the next one!
