Following up on a suggestion from Save the Bay, FoSG conducted an anti-litter campaign on the causeway and breakwater at Salter Grove in September. The campaign was timed to coincide with the bluefish run up the Bay, which failed to
materialize this year.
Anti-litter signs were posted in the bait shops used by fishermen and on the causeway.
FoSG members spoke directly with more than a hundred visitors to the breakwater and causeway, encouraging them to carry their trash back to the waste containers in the parking lot.

Join us for a meeting at the Pilgrim Senior Center (27 Pilgrim Pkwy in Warwick) on Thursday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. to learn about advances made at Salter Grove since our first neighborhood meeting on April 13th. We’ve enjoyed two potlucks at the park with beautiful weather and great food in the company of neighbors who value this great backyard we have in common.
A number of new families from the neighborhood came to enjoy our autumn potluck on September 23rd. It felt more like summer with sunshine and blue skies. Light breezes had just enough strength to propel long sinuous bubbles that drifted for yards across the lawn. The youngest bubble maker was only three-years old! New and tasty dishes appeared for the potluck with the return of a crowd-pleasing favorite from before–lemon curd squares. A duo of up-and-coming face painters wowed the two community police officers in attendance as well as others with their artistic creations. A doe and her fawn made a special appearance as they came for their evening stroll in the park.
